Olivia Tiede, rising senior, has been awarded a Gold Key at the National Scholastic Art Awards for her ceramics sculpture, Tondro. This is a huge distinction, awarded to only a couple hundred students in the country. Furthermore, a Gold Key is the highest distinction to be awarded in this annual art competition. Her artwork will be printed in the annual publication for all National Scholastic Art Award winners, be featured on the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards website, and receive a very handsome gold medal for her meritorious artistic achievement. This is the second year in a row an RHHS sculptor has been awarded a Gold Key, so we are blessed to have Olivia!

RHHS is pleased to announce that our very own, Joanna Xiao, has been selected by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars as a 2024 Presidential Scholar. This honor is nothing short of amazing as only 161 students in the entire nation were selected through a rigorous application and interview. By way of background, one young man and one young woman have been chosen from each State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and from families of U. S. citizens living abroad. Fifteen students have been selected at-large, 20 students have been chosen for demonstrating exceptional talent in the visual and performing arts, and 20 students have been chosen for demonstrating ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. The Scholars have all shown great leadership, scholarship, contribution to school and community, and outstanding accomplishments in the arts, sciences, humanities, and other fields of interest. Congratulations, Joanna!
